Triad Tactical Stock Pack

I've got a couple closets full of high speed low drag that I don't use anymore. Most of it just isn't meant for or compatible with my low speed moderate drag backwoods bummin'. There are however some exceptions and the Triad Tactical Stock Pack is one of them.

I'm a fan of good cheek welds and carrying extra ammunition & kit on the rifle. The stock pack helps me accomplish both in a single solid piece of gear. I've been using several of their packs for almost a year now and I'm quite impressed with the versatility and the quality.

The large is my favorite and I use it on my .22LR bolt gun. It's big enough for me to carry two extra mags, a spare box of ammo, a PSK, and a firesteel.

From Triad Tactical:

The Large Stock Pack is a Triad Tactical spin on an Eagle classic. The main difference is that the basic construction of the body is larger than the original version. This allows for a larger zippered pocket. The pouch is now large enough to hold a variety of detachable box magazines and has the much needed ability to hold a MilDotMaster. The pouch is about 4” tall and 6.75” long. The body of the Large Stock Pack is a better fit on the larger tactical stocks from AI, McMillen, Manners etc. The underside of the Large Stock Pack is completely lined with Velcro loop, including the face of the adjustment straps. This allows the user to add various types of hook material to raise the elevation of the comb. No more need to add layers of mouse-pad and duct-tape.

• Non-slip lami-suede cheek pad for "Proper Cheek Weld".
• Heavy Duty #9 YKK® zippered Cordura® nylon compartment for miscellaneous items or additional ammo.
• Heavy Duty Stitching
• 4 Velcro® adjustable tension straps wrap around the stock and hold the pack securely in place.
The Triad Large Stock Pack is a proprietary product of Triad Tactical, manufactured in the USA.
The large is available in Multicam, OD, Coyote, Black, and Khaki and obviously right and left hand.

It is big enough to hold a MilDotMaster and spare mags for a full size rifle, and for a while I used the large in that capacity. I've since migrated the large over to my .22 bolt gun and use it to carry a spare bit of kit.

Along with two spare mags, there is also a box of ammo, a firesteel, a compass, and a PSK, all riding quite comfortably in the pack.

As you can see, it'll hold plenty.

The standard TT Stock pack can be had with internal or external shell loops and in the same colors as the large with the addition of Ranger Green.

From Triad Tactical:

The Triad Stock Pack is a Triad Tactical spin on a classic design.

With the success of the Triad Large Stock Pack, we took the design features from it and applied them to a new product line.

There are two basic types of the Triad Stock Pack, one with shell loops on the OUTSIDE and one with the shell loops on the INSIDE.

The version with the loops inside the zippered pouch has the zipper reversed (pull to rear to open). This allows you to leave the pouch open, so you can access your ammo while shooting, without the zipper pull hitting you in the eye.

The underside of the Stock Pack is completely lined with Velcro loop, including the face of the adjustment straps. This allows the user to add various types of hook material to raise the elevation of the comb. Other manufacturers have only a limited area for attachment, which reduces the amount of adjustment and options. Each Triad Stock Pack is provided with SIX strips of hook and loop material so you can adjust the height and fit to match your rifle. Without any material added, the Stock Pack adds about 3/8" to your rifles comb.

No more need to add layers of mouse-pad and duct-tape!

There are four straps to secure your Stock Pack to your rifle; three around the bottom and one around the end. There are five slots along the bottom edge for the three bottom straps. This will allow you to locate the straps in the slots best suited to fit your rifle. This is needed on some stocks that might have fit issues with sling attachment or stock adjustment hardware.

• Non-slip lami-suede cheek pad for "Proper Cheek Weld".
• Heavy Duty #9 YKK® zippered Cordura® nylon compartment for miscellaneous items or additional ammo.
• Heavy Duty Stitching.
• 4 Velcro® adjustable tension straps wrap around the stock and hold the pack securely in place.

Here's a look at my external loop Multicam version of the standard riding my 7mm Weatherby Magnum.

The durability is certainly there, strong stitching, solid zipper, and the material are all top shelf. The five slots along the bottom with the three straps allows for a good fit across multiple stock types, the hook and loop padding allows you to build the comb up to where you want it for a true custom fit.

There are other stock packs out there, I've owned them and still own a few of them. They simply don't compare to the Triad Tactical offering though, they either miss in customization or fit or finish or durability and material choice. Triad got it right from top to bottom, these packs have exceeded my expectations.

Nice piece of gear that's Backwoods Bum Approved!

  1. Ha, "low speed moderate drag..." Me too!
I've been trying to figure out a good setup for squirrel hunting so I can carry a few miscellaneous items with me. You know how it goes, for a day hunt it is too many items for your pockets, but too few to merit a full pack. I may have to take a look at these.

    1. Exactly the kind of thing it works well for, too much for pockets, too little for a backpack. For tree rats it's that .22 and I'll also wear a Stormy Kromer wool vest, the pockets on it are enough to hold the rest of what I want on those lazy days in the field.

  2. Looks good! But that's all I can judge it with; looks. Haven't handle a weapon for more than 20 years....
    Like the rifle, too.

  3. Huh, looks like a really good way to keep stuff organized and close at hand on a long gun!

  4. Hey there, fellow .22 user :)

I finally got my self some cheapo butt stock pouc as well. I was hoping to get one in coyote tan or brown wo suit my wallnut stock, but its in OD, but, ive liked it a lot so far. Its not high quality, so i will be trying to replace it something as yours in the review. I have firesteel, button compass, bullet fly range cart, boresnake, small folding knife in mine, and some 10 spare shots. It also made a difference , a positive one, to the shooting comfort, as i have high " shoot through" scope stands and i was hoping to get a bit stuffling between my skull and the stock, and it worked, gave me some 10mm of rise.

Tomorrow, you know, the season for black grouse (Metso) finally starts.
